Alumni Serving In Pura Vida

This spring two CCA graduates are living in Costa Rica serving with the ministry Pura Vida.  After graduating in 2015 Alyssa Bueno and Emily Bolton both felt God’s call on their lives to give their time to the ministry of Pura Vida. Each year the high school students at CCA travel down to Costa Rica to partner with the ministry of Pura Vida providing enrichment programs for impoverished children, sharing the gospel, and doing construction projects.  Both Alyssa and Emily participated in this mission trip during high school. As interns they have been able to experience even more than the typical mission group visiting for a week.  In addition to assisting the mission teams that visit Costa Rica, they have taught art lessons, visited with local families, taught English at the local high school and helped in the Pura Vida sponsorship program.

Alyssa has said, “it’s been one of the best decisions of my life to be here and dedicate this time to serving God and growing.  I’ve learned about how love goes hand in hand with obeying God and about how we should offer all areas of our life as a sacrifice to Him every single day.”

For Emily returning as an intern has been specifically significant because of the relationship it has allowed her to develop with the family she has sponsored.  Emily has said, “No words can explain how beautiful this relationship is. I'm grateful for my time with Ignacia and Isaac, because I have the special blessing and honor to be here to ACTUALLY KNOW my sponsor children and their families. I get to know my family’s stories, their struggles, their interests, what makes them smile, and I get to share God's love with them. It's more than just giving, it's more than time spent, it's about being able to share the most important thing and that's the love of Christ. And there's no other place I would rather be than in the position I am now, which is living for more than myself.”

CCA is so proud of these girls and their heart to take what they have learned and received and to turn and share their love and gifts with others.  It has been an encouragement to see the fruit of their genuine faith and how they are equipped to serve!

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” 2 Corinthians 5:14
